SARS-CoV-2 Antibody Testing at Lancet Laboratories

We are pleased to announce that the SARS-CoV-2 Antibody is now offered at Lancet Laboratories following SAHPRA re-approval.

The test can be requested on request form L2090, or the test can also be ordered on the current universal form under the “other” test section by using test code C291 or SARS-CoV-2 Antibody test.

All Lancet Laboratories locations can provide the phlebotomy service for the SARS-CoV-2 Antibody test. It is important to note that the test is run in Johannesburg.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much does the test cost and does my medical aid pay for it?

Medical aid information will be accepted and a claim will be made to the scheme until other information has been received from the schemes.

For non-medical aid patients, the cash price is R230.00.

What is the test turnaround time?

The test turnaround time is 24 hours from the time the sample is received in our Johannesburg laboratory.

Must I be referred by a Doctor to have the test done?

Yes, to assist with the interpretation of the result, Lancet Laboratories does require a referring doctor. Unfortunately no self-referrals will be accepted.

Should only patients who tested positive for Covid-19 be tested?

All patients can go for the test. It is not restricted to only those patients who had a positive Covid-19 test result.
